Women who receive ultrasounds are more likely to choose life than abortion for their unborn babies. It follows, therefore, that increasing the number of ultrasounds will reduce the number of babies being aborted. And given the fact that 52% of all abortions occur before the 9th week of pregnancy*, the ability to provide ultrasounds within the earliest weeks of pregnancy is critical in protectingthe unborn from abortion.
Thankfully, newer model ultrasound machines can detect movement in the womb between 3 and 4 weeks of gestation. This allows a glimpse at life -- a moving hand, the kick of a foot, a beating heart -- in those critical early weeks of pregnancy. Reachout's current ultrasound machines can only detect movement between 8 and 10 weeks of gestation. In order to further protect the most vulnerable and fragile, the unborn, we at Reachout are actively pursuing the purchase of one of these newer, but used machines, which cost between $15,000 and $30,000.
We have received two generous donations to this end, one of $5,000, and a donation of $3,867.80 from Knights of Columbus Council #10762 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you! These donations move us closer to our goal of a newer model machine.
