Hurting?
You are not
alone!
Below are some
questions for you to consider. Abortion can be a life long struggle
of painful memories for many women. For others, abortion is an
occasional depressing thought, to be quickly buried.
These questions will help you get in
touch with areas of your life that have been affected by abortion.
It may surprise you to know that most women do not seek help until 10 to
15 years after the procedure. For some, it can be 20, 30, or even 60
years after. The point is abortion doesn't go away, but there are
answers and hope.
-
When
abortion is mentioned, does your body react physically? Do you
avoid talking or reading about abortion?
-
Have you
noticed yourself struggling to turn off feelings connected to your
abortion(s)?
-
How is
your relationship with the people that were involved in your abortion
decision?
-
Do you
feel ashamed or secretive about your abortion(s)? Has your
self-esteem changed?
-
Are there
times you're depressed, sick, or accident prone, such as the anniversary
date of the abortion(s) or the expected time of the birth?
-
Do you
suppress thoughts about what your baby's sex, name, physical features
might be?
-
Do you
feel angry when people talk about abortion?
-
Do you
feel like you can not forgive yourself?
-
Do you feel like God could never
forgive you?
-
Do you think God is or will punish
you for the abortion(s)?
-
Is your
abortion or abortions a deep dark secret that you fear telling anyone?
-
Did your
use of drugs or alcohol increase after the abortion(s)?
-
Are you
trying to make up for the abortion(s)?
If you answered yes to any of these
questions, maybe for you, the abortion is "unfinished business." The
truth is abortion can have a profound impact on your life.
Regardless of how many abortions you have had, there is hope. God
has the power to heal all our wounds. Through studying God's word
you can be set free from the shame, anger, grief, depression, and guilt of
abortion. |
